Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford, an American singer-dancer and actress. She started her Broadway career performing in musicals, including Wicked Legally Blonde, and Hair. She received an award from the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in the Play in the role of Essie Carmichael from You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh, Tony Award-winning actress as well as director, has spent the bulk of her professional career working alongside famous directors and actors both on stage and screen. Ashford will be next seen alongside Kumail Nannjiani as part of Robert Siegel's Hulu Limited series Welcome to Chippendales premiering November 22. Ashford's current project includes the Searchlight Pictures horror thriller Dust and he will be starring with Sarah Paulson and Ebonmoss-Bachrach. It will also be available in the form of an Hulu Original on Disney DTC. Ashford will be returning in 2023. He will be starring opposite Josh Groban at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre to perform the return of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail (director) and Jeffrey Seller (producer), the same duo who created Hamilton, will direct the production. Ashford portrayed Paula Jones, the main character in Ryan Murphy's new FX show American Crime Story Impeachment. The series is based on the impeachment crisis that swept Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp as well as other main characters into the first ever impeachment trial in the United States in over a century. Ashford appeared for two seasons in the CBS successful comedy B Positive. The show was written by Marco Pennette, Chuck Lorre and Linda Lavin. Also, it had Ben Vereen and Elizondo. Additional Broadway roles are Sunday in the Park with George Wicked Legally Blonde and the originating role of Lauren in Kinky Boots a performance for which she also received a Tony Award nomination. Her birthplace and childhood was in Denver Ashford now splits the time in Los Angeles and New York.
